“Peace in a Cup of Tea” is representing tea as a metaphor for cross-cultural exchange.

Tea, “Camellia Sinensis” which is the Latin word for black and green tea, is the most common beverage consumed worldwide after water.

Tea is a beverage that has been used since the beginning of time as an offering and a way of meeting, greeting, enjoying friendship and expressing our shared humanity.

“Peace in a Cup of Tea” is a body of ongoing artworks, belonging to an artwork archive called World Tea Party (WTP*) that includes photographs, drawings, paintings, videos, objects, music, and public cross-cultural art-tea service over many decades. Peace in a cup, glass or bowl of tea.

*“World Tea Party.” (WTP) and other Tea archive art activities comprise a collaboration with artists Daniel Dion and Bryan Mulvihill since the early 1980s. WTP has joined artists worldwide in the collective effort to produce artworks that build community together. WTP’s intention is to produce artworks and activities that nourish our world humanity as well as strengthen and build peaceful communities.
