meditation practice
I discovered meditation practice at an early age.
I found a book in the library on the subject of yoga which had a section about meditation.
I discovered that sitting meditation, with the focus on my breath helped me to feel balanced.
Later I discovered a book about Buddhism, being drawn to the tranquil image of the Buddha on the front cover.
I appreciate the state of inner peace and calm clear mind that meditation gives and this is the state in which I engage in my art practice.
intention
Above all other things I want to understand and train my mind. As the Buddha said: “Utterly train your own mind; that is the Buddha’s teaching”.
“In Buddhist thought, the view that natural goodness is the true heart of every being is known as “Buddha Nature” which can be translated as “The Silent Presence of Awareness.” In every person is a fundamental goodness and wisdom which is whole. By living in tune with this goodness, by acting on this goodness we can discover a sense of natural confidence. This makes us available to care for others and care for this world. By understanding our own minds, we can understand the cause of suffering and develop a loving, kind relationship with our world.
When we see this confusion and suffering in others, we can proceed from understanding where their pain comes from, because we have seen this first hand within our own minds. We can transform suffering into peace.
